ECI - Early Childhood Intervention; typically refers to the Texas Interagency Council on Early Childhood Intervention which is a state organization providing funding for children with developmental delay from birth through two.

EIS - Early Intervention Specialist – degreed professional who provides general developmental activities and information.

Friendship Groups – groups of 4-6 children with the primary goal of learning and using social skills to work and play with others.

IEP – Individual Education Plan – the plan of services and goals set by the school district for their services.

IFSP - Individualized Family Service Plan, written to meet the needs of each child/family.

Occupational Therapy – services to meet motor needs and activities of daily living – primary focus is on upper body, hand skills, and sensory processing.

Parent Education – services to assist parents with discovering skills and opportunities for their child to be successful.

Physical Therapy - services to meet motor needs and activities of daily living – primary focus is on lower body and walking/running.

Sensory-Regulatory Disorder - difficulties with self-regulation, sensory-regulation, behavior, attention, over- or under-activity, and relating to others.

Service Coordination - the primary case management for each child and family, includes accessing services, resources, transition, problem solving, etc.
